Mystery man seen running on video after murder of Monmouth County councilwoman

Robert Walker

SAYREVILLE, NJ – It has been one week since Sayreville Councilwoman Eunice Dwumfour, 30, was shot at least twelve times and killed inside a car outside her home, and police have not made an arrest.

The only clue we have at this time is a newly released video published by News 12 NJ showing a man dressed in dark-colored clothing captured on a surveillance video camera running from the area of the shooting in its aftermath.

The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office is not only remaining silent on the murder, but they are also now trying to deny the media access to the police reports filed in the case.

A report this week by MyCentralJersey.com confirmed the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office is now actively attempting to block public records releases in the case, including police body camera footage and public police CAD reports and incident reports.

The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office says they are blocking the release of those records because the case is ongoing, yet routinely post detailed accounts of other crimes frequently to the media through their public information office.

The prosecutor’s office has largely remained silent on the high-profile assassination-style killing of a local elected official.

Dwumfour was shot and killed while inside her car on Samuel Circle, outside her Sayreville home. Witnesses in the community reported hearing more than a dozen gunshots, then saw Dwumfour’s vehicle rolling downhill before coming to a stop after striking another vehicle.

A man wearing all black was seen fleeing the scene and heading toward the Garden State Parkway.

The shooting occurred at around 7:20 pm. Dwumfour, a newly elected Republican on the Sayreville Township Council, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crime.

No arrests have been made in this case, and police have not officially released any information regarding a description of the suspect.
