JACKSON TOWNSHIP, NJ – Known for its trademark burgers and bullseye outside the building, the Cassville Tavern is closing down after more than 50 years in business.

Last year, the Cassville Tavern celebrated its 50th anniversary. Now it is shutting down for good. On Saturday night, the Fariello family served their last drink and burger.

It has since been announced that a new owner is taking over.

The new owner has been identified as Steve Pielli. Pielli was identified as the former owner of the General Saloon in Old Bridge. The new owner has not announced his plans for the future of the tavern.

The building, which once served as a stagecoach stop, is over 200 years old.

In recent years, it has become known for its large bullseye at the corner of West Veterans Highway and Route 571 after multiple motor vehicle crashes at the corner.

The new owner is limited in what he can do with the building as it sits within a nationally designated historic district.

73-year-old owner Marilyn Fariello said cited her age and the death of her husband John in 2021 as the reasons for her deciding to finally call it quits after a successful run.
