Toms River, NJ – Wawa is hiring 1,500 new employees for the summer season, and they are offering free hoagies as an incentive.

Wawa, Inc. announced that it has officially launched recruiting efforts for the summer season as part of its summer hiring campaign. Each associate will receive a free Shorti sandwich during the summer, as well as a food menu that includes deeply discounted items.

From the New Jersey Shore to the beaches of Delaware, Wawa plans to hire approximately 1,500 new associates to fill positions at all of its stores. The recruiting campaign will begin on February 27 and continue throughout the summer season as more than 60 stores in those areas prepare for the summer season.

This annual employment effort is primarily focused on filling seasonal positions for summer store operations and bolstering Wawa’s family of diverse, committed, and energetic associates.

Since Wawa operates 24 hours a day, employees can choose from a variety of schedules that suit their availability, allowing them to work hard and enjoy their time at the beach simultaneously.

“At Wawa stores, summer is an exciting time,” Marc Maiolino, Director of Store Operations, said, “We are looking for people who want to be part of a company known for great food and exceptional customer service, as well as one with a special culture and commitment to making people’s lives better.”

Wawa Associates are provided a competitive salary, which starts at $15 per hour for hourly store associates. Furthermore, they receive a free Shorti Hoagie per shift and discounts on the Associate menu. In addition to remuneration, a pleasant working environment is made available through corporate care and recognition programs, exciting seasonal activities, as well as fun days. Finally, all full-time and part-time Associates are also given additional financial benefits such as health benefits, tuition reimbursement, with matching contributions to a 401(k).

As an associate at Wawa you can benefit from a range of generous perks, one of which is having the chance to share ownership through the Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). Everyone aged 18 or older who fulfills further requirements is eligible for ESOP from on their first day of work, if they put in 1,000 hours or more a year. No costs are associated with the plan, and that’s only one of many advantages — like 401(k) matching. Plus, Wawa’s ESOP is rated amongst the ten biggest ones in the nation, with close to 38% owned by its colleagues.
