22-year-old shot and killed in Cambridge

CAMBRIDGE, MD – On Friday, a 22-year-old man was shot and killed shortly after midnight in Cambridge.

The Cambridge Police Department received two Shot Spotter gunshot alerts at around 12:08 am in the area of Pine Street and Boundary Avenue and on North Driver.

Police said multiple shots were reportedly fired.

As police were dispatched to the area, multiple 911 calls regarding shots fired were received by the Dorchester County Emergency Operations Center.


Upon their arrival, officers located a 22-year-old male victim with a gunshot wound.


“CPD Officers rendered aid to the victim until Dorchester County EMS arrived on the scene,” the Cambridge Police Department said in a statement today. “The male victim was transported to the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Dorchester, where the subject was later pronounced deceased.”

The victim was identified as Daiquan Elijah Taylor, 22.

The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit is assisting local police with the homicide investigation.

Any witnesses are asked to contact either the Cambridge Police Department Criminal Investigation Division or the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit. All callers can remain anonymous.
