New York City Mayor tells business owners to unmask customers when entering stores

NEW YORK, NY – In a reversal of the city’s past COVID-19 health and safety guidelines, New York City Mayor Eric Adams is asking New Yorkers to unmask when entering businesses.

The request comes after a series of violent crimes and murders committed throughout the city by suspects wearing COVID-19 era surgical face masks.

Those face masks are making it hard for police to identify the criminals, and those criminals are well aware of it. So is Mayor Adams.

“We are putting out a clear call to all of our shops, do not allow people to enter the store without taking off their face mask,” he said during an interview with AM radio station 1010 wins. “Once they’re inside, they can continue to wear it if they desire to do so. When you see these mask-wearing people, oftentimes it’s not about being fearful of the pandemic, it’s fearful of the police catching them for their deeds.”

Store workers, once required to force customers to wear face masks are now being asked to request customers take them off.
