BALTIMORE, MD – An unsolved assault shooting case in 2008 has turned into an unsolved homicide after the victim passed away in Texas this week.

The body of the man, who had since relocated to Texas, was examined by the Texas Medical Examiners’ office after he passed away on Wednesday. The results of the autopsy concluded his death was related to the injuries sustained in the 2008 shooting.

” On March 22, 2008, at approximately 05:44 a.m., Southeast District patrol officers responded to the 500 block of North Decker Avenue to Investigate a reported shooting,” the Baltimore Police Department reported when he was shot. “When officers arrived at the location, officers located a 21-year-old victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the body. The victim was transported to an area hospital in critical but stable condition.”

Now, the 15-year-old cold case is being investigated as a homicide.

Police are asking anyone who might have information regarding this case to contact them.

“On March 8, 2023, Homicide detectives were notified that the victim died in Texas, and an autopsy was conducted. Texas medical examiners ruled the death a homicide due to complications from the shooting,” police said. “Detectives are still awaiting the formal documents and reports from the Texas Medical Examiner’s office to confirm the victim’s death date.”
