“More than 400,000 veterans live in New Jersey, and many of them require some form of assistance,” said Corrado (R-40). “Fortunately, New Jersey is blessed with many organizations and charities that are dedicated to helping the brave men and women who served this great nation. This legislation supports these local organizations and provides additional funding so they can continue assisting veterans with important services.”

Sen. Corrado’s bill, S-3589, makes a supplemental appropriation of $500,000 to the Department of Military and Veterans’ Affairs for the New Jersey SOS Veterans Stakeholders Group (NJSOSVETS).

NJSOSVETS is made up of a coalition of individuals and groups that offer assistance for veterans throughout New Jersey. Their services include providing emergency transportation, housing, clothes, medical care and more.

Additionally, NJSOSVETS groups advocate on behalf of veterans to produce positive legislative action to tackle prevalent issues within their communities such as homelessness.

“It’s a sad fact that too many of our veterans who need help fall through the cracks,” added Corrado. “Whether our veterans need emergency lodging, clothing, food, or transportation, we want to make sure we have support organizations that are ready and able to help. After all of their sacrifices, it’s the least we can do.”
