18-year-old female victim assaulted, robbed inside Manhattan subway station

NEW YORK, NY – Police in Upper Manhattan are investigating an assault and robbery of an 18-year-old female victim while standing on the platform inside the West 135th Street station.

On Tuesday, at around 2 pm, police said the 18-year-old victim was approached by an unknown individual, who slapped her in the head while standing on a West 135 Street C/D line transit platform.

“After being struck, the victim’s Apple Air Pods fell to the ground, at which time the individual picked them up and fled out of the subway station,” detectives with the 26th Police Precinct reported.


The woman did not sustain any serious injuries during the incident.

Police said the suspect was described as a male with a dark complexion, approximately 5’10-5’11, medium build, last seen wearing a tan jacket, a light gray hooded sweatshirt, and light gray sweat pants
