Hit and run incident now a homicide after homeless man dies from injuries

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The D.C. Metro Police Department is investigating a hit-and-run that occurred in November. Now that case is being treated as a homicide after the victim passed away this week.

The incident occurred on Sunday, November 6, 2022, in the 1700 Block of New York Avenue.

“The preliminary investigation revealed, at approximately 8:29 pm, the operator of a bright green Dodge Challenger struck a pedestrian who was crossing the street at the listed location,” DC Metro Police said in a statement today. “The striking vehicle then fled the scene. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the pedestrian to an area hospital for treatment of critical injuries.”


The victim in incident died on Saturday. He was identified as Brandon Johnson, 38, a homeless man.
