NEWARK, N.J. – Eight men were charged on Tuesday for their involvement in a drug trafficking organization operating in and around Union County, New Jersey. The accused face one count of conspiracy to distribute controlled substances.

The organization was involved in dozens of narcotics transactions, and officers seized more than 9,000 individual doses of fentanyl sold by the group. Yesterday, law enforcement executed a series of searches, locating a “mill” used to manufacture and package narcotics and recovering around 10 kilograms of a substance believed to be fentanyl.

The count of conspiracy to distribute controlled substances carries a maximum potential penalty of 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine.
