Feds track New Jersey man who raped teen to Puerto Rico

NEWARK, NJ – A man wanted for the rape of a young girl in Kearny has been found in Puerto Rico and arrested by federal agents this week.

On Wednesday, U.S. Marshals arrested Jose Alfredo Garcia, age 31, of Kearny, as he was trying to escape justice, hiding in San German, Puerto Rico.

In December of 2021, Garcia was wanted for an attack on a 14-year-old girl.

He has been identified as a fugitive from justice as a result of an investigation the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office.

Garcia is being detained at the Metropolitan Jail in Bayamon, Puerto Rico and pending extradition to New Jersey.
