DOVER, DE – The Delaware State Police report a Delaware man has been arrested for DUI an eight time today. Police initiated a traffic stop on Octavio Lopez-Hernandez, 27, at around 1:50 am early Saturday morning in Dover.
Before the stop, a DSP trooper on patrol observed a silver Nissan Rogue traveling at a high rate of speed southbound on North Dupont Highway near Scarborough Road.
“The trooper stopped the Rogue and contacted the driver and only occupant, identified as Octavio Lopez-Hernandez,” the Delaware Police said in a statement.
After smelling alcohol on Lopez Hernandez’s breath, he was taken into custody. Police later learned he had seven prior DUI convictions.
Hernandez was also driving with a suspended license and failed to provide proof of insurance to officers.
