Two shot, one dead in the Bronx

NEW YORK, NY – Two men were shot, and one was killed overnight in the Bronx. Police with the NYPD’s 48th Precinct were dispatched to the area of East 179th Street and Mapes Avenue after receiving a 911 call regarding a shooting in the area.

When police arrived shortly after 3 am, officers located a 34-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to Saint Barnabas Hospital by EMS. A short time later, he was declared deceased.

Police later learned that a second gunshot victim from the same shooting incident was taken to Bronx Lebanon Hospital before police arrival. That victim, a 33-year-old male, had a single gunshot wound to his right arm.


He is recovering in stable condition at this time.

Police have not made any arrests and no suspects have been identified.
