Newark Police Seek Public’s Help Identifying Armed Business Robbery Suspect

NEWARK, NJ – Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé is requesting public assistance in identifying an armed business robbery suspect involved in an incident that occurred on Monday, March 13, 2023. At approximately 6:18 p.m., police responded to a business in the area of Brookdale Avenue and Abinger Place. The suspect entered the business, walked behind the counter, pointed a handgun at an employee, and demanded money from the register. The suspect then fled, entering the rear seat of a 2021-2023 gray Ford Maverick with tinted windows.

The suspect is described as a Black male, wearing a black North Face jacket, black North Face ski pants, a black mask, and black boots. The vehicle was last seen heading southbound on West End Avenue into Irvington. Director Fragé urges anyone with information about the identity of this suspect or the whereabouts of the suspect vehicle to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).
