ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD – An Anne Arundel County police officer was credited for saving the lives of a homeowner, his dog and their neighbor from two burning homes last Wednesday.

At around 5:20 pm on March 22, AACPD Officer Moreland saw the home on fire and realized it was spreading to a neighboring home.

β€œOfficer Moreland was driving through a residential neighborhood when he noticed a house on fire. Ofc. Moreland took immediate action and was able to get the homeowner and his dogs safely out of the residence. He was also able to notify a neighbor whose home was also catching fire,” the department said.

The department said that despite heavy smoke and low visibility, the individuals and dog were able to be safely evacuated.

β€œIt is easy to see how quickly house fires can spread and how limited visibility can get, even outside. We want to thank our Fire Department for quickly managing this fire and for their heroism every day,” the department said.
