Hoax Call Reports Shots Fired at Gorton High School

YONKERS, NY – Today, Yonkers Police responded to a hoax call reporting shots fired inside Gorton High School. Shortly before 8 AM, police headquarters received the call, and within one minute, the first officer arrived on the scene. The school was placed on lockdown while officers conducted a thorough search of the premises.

They quickly determined no shots were fired and declared the school safe. The lockdown was lifted, and the school resumed normal operations. Yonkers Police investigators are currently working to identify the caller and effect an arrest. Additional hoax calls were made to other schools in Westchester and surrounding counties, but no credible threats have been identified.
