Man Arrested for Pointing Stolen Firearm at Vehicles in Virginia Beach

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – On Saturday, at approximately 10:00 P.M., a concerned citizen flagged down Virginia Beach police officers to report a man pointing a firearm at passing vehicles on the 900 block of Atlantic Avenue.

Officers responded promptly, and with the help of a Second Precinct Camera Operator, they located the suspect on top of a parking garage.

Travon Avery, a 23-year-old man from Portsmouth, was detained without incident. A stolen handgun was retrieved from Mr. Avery, who now faces charges of receiving a stolen firearm, Reckless handling of a firearm, and Carrying a Concealed Weapon.
