Schenectady Police Department Recovers Multiple Firearms and Responds to Multiple Shots Fired Calls

SCHENECTADY, NY – Between March 21 and last Tuesday, the Schenectady Police Department responded to four separate calls for confirmed shots fired and recovered multiple illegal handguns. During this week, several arrests were made, including a juvenile suspect.

On March 21, officers responded to shots fired at Catherine Street and Locust Avenue. Shell casings were recovered, and a vehicle and two houses were found to have been struck. The investigation is ongoing.

On March 22, police were dispatched to Eastern Avenue and University Place for another shots fired report. Shell casings and a struck building were found at the scene, and the incident is still under investigation.

On March 23, officers responded to Eastern Avenue, where they found shell casings and a struck vehicle. A juvenile suspect was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree and Reckless Endangerment in the 1st Degree. On Monday, officers were called to Ellis Hospital for a male with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The investigation revealed the man had been shot while driving near Strong Street and Hulett Street. The incident remains under investigation.
