Vehicle Pursuit Ends in Arrests in East Brunswick

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ – Yesterday, Patrolman Ryan Welch attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a white Honda with fictitious license plates when the driver, George W. Noonan, 37, of Laurence Harbor, NJ, failed to stop and initiated a pursuit. The chase began on Highway 18 and continued onto Cranbury Road, where Noonan stopped the vehicle, placed it in reverse, and struck Patrolman Welch’s patrol car. Local area schools were placed into shelter-in-place as a precautionary measure.

Noonan continued to flee, eventually abandoning the car on Deerfield Road and attempting to escape on foot. He was apprehended after a brief foot chase and continued to resist arrest. Noonan has been charged with Aggravated Assault, Eluding, Resisting Arrest, and Driving While Intoxicated. His passenger, Kellymari T. Gangi, 30, also of Laurence Harbor, NJ, was found to have an active warrant from Middlesex County.
