Suspect arrested for murder of James Dawson

COLUMBUS, OH – Rieko Leohner, a 39-year-old Columbus resident, has been charged with murder in connection to the death of James Dawson Jr., 50.

On Saturday, Columbus Police officers responded to a call at the 800 block of S. Champion Avenue. The 911 caller reported an unresponsive victim who the caller said appeared to have been assaulted.

Upon arrival, medics pronounced Dawson dead at the scene shortly after 9 p.m. Homicide investigators identified Leohner as a suspect and subsequently arrested and charged him with murder.
