Diner employee attacked with Gatorade bottle filled with bleach

MAPLEWOOD, NJ – A female employee at the Maplewood Diner was the victim of a bleach attack last week and police are asking the public to assist in helping them locate the suspect.

At around 11:30 am last Thursday, a man entered the diner and threw a Gatorade bottle full of liquid bleach at the 47-year-old female employee.

Police responded to the diner after receiving a 911 call. It was reported that an unknown black male entered the establishment, threw a Gatorade bottle full of bleach into her face, and then proceeded to break items inside the diner before fleeing Westbound on Springfield Avenue.


The suspect was s described as a light skinned black male in his twenties wearing a black jacket, blue jeans, and a black baseball cap.

The worker was transported to Saint Barnabas Medical Center for evaluation.
