NEWARK, NJ – Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé is requesting the public’s help in identifying two female suspects involved in a package theft that occurred on Monday. The suspects were caught on surveillance video as they stole several packages from the front steps of a residence located in the 20 block of Elm Street.

In the footage, the suspects are seen opening the front gate of the home, walking up the front steps, taking the packages, and fleeing the scene. As package theft becomes an increasingly common issue, the Newark Police Division is urging residents to take preventive measures, such as having packages delivered to secure locations or requiring a signature upon delivery.

Director Fragé is asking anyone with information about the identities of these suspects to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous tips will be kept confidential and could result in a reward. Tips can also be submitted online at the Police Division’s website or through their Smartphone App available at the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
