GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ – Yesterday, at approximately 5:34 pm, a house fire erupted on Briar Lane in the Blackwood section of Gloucester Township, New Jersey. Responding officers arrived to find smoke and flames emanating from the residence and quickly evacuated the home and neighboring properties as a precautionary measure.

Fire departments from multiple stations, including Gloucester Township Squad 88, Glendora Fire Company (Station 81), Chews Landing Fire Department (Station 82), Lambs Terrace Fire Company (Station 85), Pine Hill Fire Department, and Magnolia Fire Company Station 29, worked together to gain control of the blaze.

The fire does not appear to be suspicious but remains under investigation by the New Jersey State Fire Marshal’s Office and Lambs Terrace Fire Department Station 85.

In light of this incident, authorities are reminding the public to check their fire suppression systems, including smoke alarms and audible alarm systems, to ensure they are operational. Properly functioning smoke alarms are crucial for early detection of fires, allowing residents to evacuate quickly and safely.
