YONKERS, NY – In an impressive display of efficient police work, officers from the Westchester County Police Department (WCPD) recovered a stolen car, arrested three suspects, and seized a loaded handgun and narcotics within 12 minutes of the initial report. The incident unfolded at 8:05 p.m. on the night the car was reported stolen on Tuckahoe Road in Yonkers.

Real Time Crime detectives quickly tracked the stolen 2009 Acura MDX, which was heading north on the Taconic State Parkway in Mount Pleasant. Sgt. Paglicua and POs Peterman and B. Moskalik located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop just south of the Millwood exit.

The officers discovered a loaded handgun, 10 glassine envelopes of heroin, six bundles of crack cocaine, and 84 pills (Xanax, Ecstasy, and Oxycodone) in the vehicle.

All three occupants were taken into custody and charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 4th Degree, a felony. Additionally, the driver, Erik Flakes, 19, was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree, while the front seat passenger, Austin Raymond, 19, was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree (Intent to Sell). The rear seat passenger, a 16-year-old, was wearing a court-ordered ankle monitor and is expected to appear in Westchester Family Court at a later date.

This case demonstrates the effectiveness of the WCPD’s Patrol Services Division, the Real Time Crime team, and the General Investigations Unit, who are working together to keep the community safe from crime.
