Teen reported missing in Wilmington

Wilmington, DE – The Delaware State Police Troop 1 has issued a Gold Alert for 16-year-old Onesimus Sumpter of Wilmington, DE. Sumpter was last seen in the Wilmington area on April 7, 2023, at approximately 6:12 a.m. Despite attempts to contact and locate him, all efforts have been unsuccessful, and authorities are growing increasingly concerned for his safety and well-being.

According to the police report, Sumpter is a black male standing at approximately 6’2” tall and weighing around 190 pounds. He has black hair, brown eyes, and was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, and burgundy Jordan sneakers.

Delaware State Police Troop 1 has urged anyone with information about Sumpter’s whereabouts to come forward and assist in the search. They can be reached by calling 302-761-6677, or by dialing 9-1-1 in case of an emergency.


Delaware Crime Stoppers is also accepting information and can be contacted at 1-800-847-3333. All callers can remain anonymous, and any piece of information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, could be crucial in finding Onesimus Sumpter and reuniting him with his loved ones.

As the search continues, the Delaware State Police Troop 1 has appealed to the public for their help and cooperation in bringing Sumpter home safely.
