CHERRY HILL, NJ – The Cherry Hill Police Department (CHPD) has reported increased vehicle burglaries and thefts, stressing the importance of residents taking preventative measures to protect their property.

Recently, the department has seen a concerning rise in cases where unlocked vehicles with valuables and keys left in plain sight have become targets for opportunistic thieves.

The CHPD advises individuals to always remove valuables, including keys or key fobs, from their vehicles and double-check that all doors are fully shut and locked before leaving the area. This includes securing vehicles even when parked at home, as thieves often target residential areas.

Additionally, the department warns against leaving primary or spare keys in vehicles. While it may seem convenient, doing so can lead to both locking oneself out of the car and giving opportunistic thieves easy access to steal the vehicle. If you believe you may have been a victim of a crime, please contact Police Dispatch at 856-665-1200.
