CHEVY CHASE, MD – A Chevy Chase resident won big this week with a Keno ticket purchased at a Marathon gas station in Bethesda. The woman, who described herself as a fitness coach, said Keno was her favorite game even though she didn’t play often.

Her name was not released by lottery officials.

As she filled her gas tank, the woman noticed the Lottery sign in the gas station window and decided to buy a 10-spot Keno ticket for two drawings, which cost her $18 with the Super Bonus prize multiplier added.

It wasn’t until later when she scanned her ticket, that she realized she had won $48,000.

“I didn’t believe it when I saw the $48,000,” the woman said. “I scanned it again and again. Then, I walked around the store twice, then back to the scanner to try it again.”

The 47-year-old winner, who remains anonymous, said she plans to set aside most of her Keno prize for her children’s education.

In addition to the lucky winner, the Marathon station on River Road in Bethesda will receive a $480 bonus from the Lottery for selling the winning ticket of $10,000 or more.
