LITTLE EGG HARBOR TWP, NJ – Firefighters in Ocean County are once again battling a large fire, this time in Little Egg Harbor Township

The New Jersey Forest Fire Service (NJFFS) reported the blaze in Bass River State Forest, Stafford Forge Wildlife Management Area, and the Warren Grove Bombing Range in the southern part of the county.

The state fire observer detected the fire at 10:17 a.m. today from the Cedar Bridge Fire Tower when arriving to work for the day.

The fire is currently 200 acres in size and 0% contained, prompting officials to close Route 539 from the town of Warren Grove to Forge Road. Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes.

Fortunately, no residential structures are threatened and no evacuations have been ordered.

The NJFFS is urging the public to refrain from using drones near the area as it may interfere with their operations.

The NJFFS has deployed ground and air resources to control the fire, including helicopters, bulldozers, and other firefighting equipment. At present, there is no indication of how long the wildfire may last or when it will be contained.

Residents in the area are advised to stay informed about the situation and to cooperate with authorities to ensure the safety of everyone involved. The NJFFS will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as the wildfire progresses.
