Deceased victim identified in Newark quadruple shooting that injured three others

NEWARK, NJ – A tragic quadruple shooting in Newark on Saturday night has left one person dead and three others critically injured. The incident occurred around 7:40 p.m. in the area of Chancellor Avenue and Leslie Street.

The three victims are clinging to life, sources close to the investigation revealed today.

The incident was an ambush-style shooting outside a liquor store and bodega. Police roped off several blocks in the neighborhood with crime scene tape as detectives investigated the shooting.


The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office is the shooting, and further details have yet to be released. The names and ages of the victims have not been disclosed, and it is unclear if any suspects have been identified or apprehended.

On Sunday, 43-year-old Corey Beasley was identified as the deceased victim. He was pronounced dead shortly after 8 pm.

Beasley, known as Woo to friends, was admired by many in the community. Friends and neighbors expressed shock and frustration after hearing about his death. He was affectionately remembered by members of the community as the guy who was always seen walking to the store to get his lottery tickets.
