Brick, NJ – Firefighters responded to a report of a brush fire in the wooded area near Alameda and East Coral Drive at 1:00 PM on Tuesday. The Herbertsville, Laurelton, Breton Woods, and Pioneer Hose Fire Companies, along with mutual aid from the NJ Forest Fire Service and the Point Pleasant Boro, Point Pleasant Beach, and Silverton Fire Departments, worked together to control and extinguish the fire.

There were no reported injuries or property damage. Some homes located near the fire were evacuated as a precautionary measure. Chief David Forrester commended and thanked all responders, emphasizing the challenges and unpredictability of brush fires.

Firefighters were able to contain a brush fire that broke out in the marshland area of Cedar Island Drive and Mandalay Road in Brick Township on Thursday. The fire was reported just before 7:00 PM, and firefighters were able to knock down most of the flames. However, hotspots continued to pop up, leading firefighters to back-burn the area to control the spread.

Residents in the Seawood Harbor section, along with those on Mandalay Rd. and Saint Lawrence Blvd., were unable to drive to their homes due to smoke conditions and firefighting equipment blocking the roads. As a result, officers had them leave their vehicles at Angela Hibbard Park and provided them with rides to their homes.

No injuries were reported, and there was no property damage. The scene was cleared by midnight.

These fires were two of several in Ocean County over the past seven days as the risk of fire due to lack of rain and dry dormant undergrowth persist as spring moves forward.
