Richmond police issue tickets to reckless drivers at car club meeting

Jeff Jones

Richmond, VA – Last Saturday evening, an estimated 60 cars gathered on mall property in a car club and were seen driving recklessly. Concerned residents reported the incident to the Richmond Police Department, and officers quickly coordinated with the Metro Aviation Unit to intervene.

Just after 10 p.m., officers from the RPD Third Precinct arrived on the scene and issued citations to three individuals for reckless driving. Thanks to the quick response of the Metro Air 1 Unit, officers were able to identify the primary drivers engaged in reckless driving and put an end to the dangerous situation.

The car club was disbanded, and the Richmond Police Department has made it clear that reckless driving and endangering the lives of others will not be tolerated in the city. The department has urged residents to report any reckless driving incidents they witness to ensure public safety.
