BOONSBORO, MD – A well-known horse trainer from Washington County has added Lottery scratch-off expert to his impressive resume, after winning $100,000 on an impulse purchase of a Gold X50 instant ticket earlier this month.

The 78-year-old Boonsboro resident, often referred to as a “horse whisperer”, was at dinner with his wife when he decided to try his luck with the $10 Gold X50 game, instead of his usual $5 Gold X20. “I like the game, especially the way the prize multiplier works,” he said.

After scratching the ticket, the stunned winner turned to his wife and said, “Honey, you better take a look at this.” Unable to speak, he and his wife agreed to keep the win quiet, but the festive mood at the AC&T #170 store in Boonsboro gave it away.

The winner chose the nickname “The Eagle has Landed” to tell his story and adorn his ceremonial check. His first priority for the $100,000 prize is to pay off family bills.
