NEWARK, DE – The Delaware State Police arrested 61-year-old Michael West of New Castle, Delaware, following an incident that occurred in a Newark parking lot on April 4, 2023.

Troopers responded to the parking lot of the Popeyes restaurant located at 80 McIntosh Plaza regarding an aggravated menacing. The 36-year-old female victim reported that an unknown man had just pointed a handgun at her and her 9-year-old daughter in their car.

The man, later identified as West, had argued with the woman over her positioning too close to his parking spot line before he arrived.

As the investigation progressed, troopers developed West as the suspect and took him into custody at his residence on Wednesday, without incident. Troopers also recovered the handgun used in this incident. West was charged with Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony and Aggravated Menacing. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on a $25,000 unsecured bond.
