BROOKLYN, NY – Latecia Moore, a 42-year-old woman from Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, and the owners of two Brooklyn companies, Alex Kaushanskiy of Sheepshead Bay and Benedetto Bonello of Bensonhurst, have been arraigned today on separate indictments for allegedly making and selling fake safety cards to New York construction workers without providing the required training.

The defendants face multiple charges, including criminal possession of a forged instrument, forgery, and falsifying business records.

The investigation began in November 2021 after the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) reported discrepancies regarding a contractor’s safety card to the Department of Investigation (DOI).

As part of the investigation, DOI executed a search warrant at Moore’s workplace, where they found computers, a card printer, and various counterfeit OSHA and Site Safety Training (SST) cards. It is alleged that Moore manufactured fake cards, which were later sold to customers for between $200 and $650 per card. Kaushanskiy and Bonello, both authorized OSHA trainers, allegedly did not provide the required trainings.
