‘I’ll Be Out There At Some Point’: Biden Still Hasn’t Visited East Palestine 50 Days Since Promising To Go

President Joe Biden has yet to visit the small Ohio town impacted by a toxic train derailment 50 days after promising that he would.

A Norfolk Southern train carrying toxic chemicals derailed in East Palestine, Ohio, on Feb. 3, and a controlled burn was conducted on Feb. 6 that released the contaminants into the air, soil and water. President Biden promised reporters on March 2 that he would visit the town “at some point,” but has not announced any specific plans.

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre confirmed during a press briefing on April 10 that the president still has plans to visit East Palestine, responding to a question about Biden’s travel plans by saying that he “keeps his word.” She noted that she knew of no specific plans about such trip, but that she would “let the president’s word stand.”

Biden has made inconsistent statements about whether or not he will visit East Palestine and told reporters on Feb. 24 that he had no plans to go “at this moment.” He was slammed by former President Donald Trump, who made an appearance in the town on Feb. 22 and donated pallets of water and cleaning supplies.

Adam Radogna, an Ohio resident, told the Daily Caller News Foundation during Trump’s visit that it “speaks a lot of words” that Trump was in East Palestine while Biden was visiting Ukraine that same week. Biden met with President Zelenskyy and announced the United States would send additional monetary aid to support the country’s military efforts against Russia.

“The federal government, Biden, has not acknowledged East Palestine so I’m a little bit unhappy about that,” William Hugar, an East Palestine resident, previously told the DCNF. “The first week that it happened Biden was too busy popping Chinese balloons.”

The White House did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.
