NEW YORK, NY – Police in New York City have charged two men for concealing and moving a human corpse after a relative of the deceased alerted detectives earlier this year.
On Tuesday, February 7, a 27-year-old female walked into the 81 Precinct and told police the shocking story about her deceased family member. According to the woman, the incident had occurred on January 28, at around 5:00 am in a private residence located at 773A Monroe Street.
The victim was identified as Martin Wright, a 44-year-old male from Moore Street.
A police investigation into the incident revealed that the victim had sustained head injuries while inside the residence at 773A Monroe Street. His body was later transported to another location, which was not identified by the NYPD.
On Thursday, April 13, police made an arrest in the case.
Craig Smith, a 48-year-old male was charged with concealing a human corpse and tampering with physical evidence.
A week later, on Thursday, detectives made a second arrest.
McMillian Wright, a 45-year-old male who lived at 773A Monroe Street, was charged with murder, criminal possession of a loaded firearm, falsifying business records, concealing a human corpse, tampering with physical evidence, and possessing a forged instrument.
The investigation is still ongoing, and more information is yet to be revealed. The police urge anyone with information that could be useful in the investigation to come forward and provide it to the relevant authorities.
