BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA – Dominique Isaac Harris, 31, was convicted yesterday, for the first-degree murder and possession of an instrument of crime in the brutal killing of former co-worker Michael Pickens, 29, in December 2021. After a week-long trial, the jury deliberated for only a few hours before delivering the guilty verdict. Harris is facing a mandatory life sentence without parole. The sentencing date is yet to be announced.
The murder took place in Bensalem Township when Harris and Pickens, who had previously worked together, met up to discuss a business deal. According to the prosecution, the meeting quickly turned violent, with Harris stabbing Pickens multiple times in the chest and back. Pickens was found dead at the scene by authorities, while Harris fled. He was arrested two days later in Philadelphia.
During the trial, the prosecution painted Harris as a cold and calculated killer, while the defense argued that Harris had acted in self-defense. The jury ultimately sided with the prosecution, finding that the evidence overwhelmingly supported their case.
Pickens’ family expressed relief at the verdict, stating that they hoped it would bring some closure to their painful loss.
District Attorney Matthew D. Weintraub praised the work of law enforcement officers, the prosecution team, and the jury for their dedication and hard work in bringing Harris to justice.
