Fatal hit and run reported in Ridgefield Park

RIDGEFIELD PARK, NJ – The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Ridgefield Park Police Department are actively investigating a hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian that occurred on Route 46 in Ridgefield Park, NJ on Friday, at approximately 11:10 pm. The pedestrian, whose name is being withheld pending notification to the next of kin, tragically succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation is being led by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Ridgefield Park Police Department under the direction of Chief Joseph Rella. Authorities are currently gathering evidence and interviewing potential witnesses to help determine the events leading up to the fatal incident and identify the driver responsible for the hit-and-run.

Given the severity of the case, law enforcement officials are urging members of the public to come forward with any information that may be helpful in the ongoing investigation. Residents and businesses in the area with surveillance footage or any witnesses to the incident are encouraged to contact the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office or the Ridgefield Park Police Department.
