NYC deli worker beaten after trying to stop shoplifter from taking bag of chips

NEW YORK CITY, NY – The New York City Police Department is requesting the public’s help in identifying three individuals involved in a robbery and assault that took place within the 46th Precinct. On Sunday, March 19, 2023, at approximately 4:10 PM, the suspects entered a grocery store located at 117 Featherbed Lane, where they removed a bag of chips and left the store without paying. T

he 32-year-old male employee followed the individuals outside to retrieve the stolen property, but he was punched by two of the suspects while the third struck him multiple times with a belt. The three individuals then fled the scene on foot heading eastbound on Featherbed Lane.

The victim suffered minor injuries but declined medical attention at the scene. The NYPD has released descriptions of the suspects and urges anyone with information to call the Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). All calls are strictly confidential.
