Man charged after throwing former roommate into fence, strangulation

CUMBERLAND, MD – A violent incident unfolded on Saturday when police responded to an assault report at an Elder St residence. The victim informed officers that they had been attacked by an irate former roommate, identified as Patrick Lee Thompson, 30, of Cumberland, MD. Thompson allegedly threatened, strangled, and threw the victim into a fence before leaving the scene.

Cumberland City Police officers later located Thompson and placed him under arrest. He was transported to Police Headquarters and charged with Assault 1st Degree and Assault 2nd Degree.

Thompson appeared before the District Court Commissioner and was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center, where he is currently being held without bond.
