Newark students roll up sleeves to clean their neighborhood on Earth Day with police, leaders

NEWARK, NJ – Multiple student volunteers from East Side High School joined officers A. Hart and S. Pereira from the 3rd Precinct Community to participate in East Ward Council Member Michael Silva’s Earth Day Cleanup event at Delancy Street and Stockton Street.

The aim of the event was to promote environmental sustainability and keep the city clean.

The group was enthusiastic in their efforts, donning gloves and carrying garbage bags as they scoured the area for litter and other debris. The officers and volunteers worked together to collect and properly dispose of the waste, making a significant impact on the cleanliness of the area.


Council Member Silva expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the volunteers and officers, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in maintaining a clean and healthy environment. He also highlighted the positive impact that such efforts can have on the local community.
