14-year-old charged after bringing gun to Landover middle school

LANDOVER, MD – A middle school student in Prince George’s County is facing multiple charges after bringing a loaded gun onto school property.

The incident occurred at G. James Gholson Middle School in Landover earlier today at approximately 11:00 am.

According to police, a teacher noticed that an eighth grade male student was in possession of a gun in a classroom and immediately notified the school’s administrators. Prince George’s County Schools security personnel were then alerted and were able to recover the loaded firearm from the student.

The 14-year-old student is now facing multiple charges, including handgun on person, dangerous weapon on school property, possession of a firearm by a minor, and loaded handgun on person. The Prince George’s County Police Department is currently investigating the incident.


Prince George’s County Schools Superintendent, Dr. Monica Goldson, released a statement regarding the incident, stating that the school system is committed to providing a safe learning environment for all students and will continue to work with law enforcement to ensure the safety and security of their schools.
