Attempted carjacking in Montgomery County being investigated by police

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division are actively investigating an attempted carjacking incident in the 7900 block of Woodmont Avenue on Thursday, April 27 at around 7 p.m.

Police have released video footage of the suspects and are seeking the public’s help in identifying them.

The investigation revealed that the victim was leaving a restaurant in the area when he was approached by two unidentified Black male suspects while opening the rear passenger door of his vehicle. The suspects assaulted the victim by punching him multiple times and demanded his car keys. However, upon discovering that the vehicle was not running, the suspects fled the scene when good Samaritans from the restaurant intervened. The suspects were last seen heading towards the Bethesda Metro Station.


The suspects are described as being in their late teens or early twenties with distinct physical features and clothing.

The first suspect is approximately 5-feet, 8-inches tall, with a thin build, weighing around 150 pounds. He was wearing a black ski mask, a black hooded sweatshirt with a white Nike symbol on the front, black pants, and carrying a dark-colored backpack.

The second suspect is approximately 5-feet, 3-inches tall, thin build, weighing around 120 pounds. He was wearing a black ski mask, black hooded sweatshirt, and black pants.
