Phone snatcher charged by NYPD

NEW YORK, NY – The New York City Police Department has announced the arrest of Reiny Tavares, a 35-year-old male from Brooklyn, in connection with a grand larceny that occurred within the 68 Precinct, Transit District 34. Tavares is accused of snatching an iPhone 12 Max from a 29-year-old female victim at the Bay Ridge Avenue station on Saturday, at around 3:50 PM. The victim was not injured during the incident.

Pursuant to an ongoing investigation, Tavares was arrested and charged with Grand Larceny on Sunday, within the confines of the 60 Precinct.

The NYPD continues to seek public assistance in identifying an additional suspect involved in the crime, described as a male approximately 5’10” tall, 150 pounds, with a medium complexion, slim build, and facial hair. He was last seen wearing a black winter hat with a white Nike logo, a red hooded sweatshirt with a “Jordan” design on the front, and black shorts with a white Nike logo on the left leg.
