BERKELEY TOWNSHIP, NJ – On April 24, a fire broke out at the Holiday Heights Clubhouse located in Berkeley Township.

The fire was caused by a ballast from a lighting fixture that overheated and fell, creating the fire. The building was evacuated, and the Manitou Park and Pinewald Fire Department arrived on the scene to extinguish the fire.

No injuries were reported. During the investigation, Berkeley Township Fire Official Fred Mitchell, and Ocean County Fire Marshall Detective William Somers, and Detective Michael Riccardelli, examined the evidence in the clubhouse to link the fire to the faulty light.

The investigation determined that the building was safe for occupancy.
