Suffolk County officials announced a new partnership with Fund for Animal Cruelty Treatment of Suffolk Inc. (FACTS) on Monday, aimed at supporting the care of animals rescued from abusive situations. The partnership was revealed during a press conference that was attended by Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney, Suffolk County Police Commissioner Rodney K. Harrison, and Suffolk County Sheriff Errol Toulon. The three officials explained that FACTS would provide financial assistance for the care of animals that were rescued as part of the county’s Biological, Environmental, and Animal Safety Team’s efforts.

The announcement was also marked by a $10,000 donation from Foos Fire Inc., a private fire sprinkler company, to FACTS. This donation will provide a significant boost to the organization’s efforts in supporting animal victims.

The press conference was attended by Dove, a female pit bull mix who was rescued from an abusive situation and subsequently cared for by the Town of Brookhaven Animal Shelter. Dove is now up for adoption, and her presence at the announcement highlighted the importance of providing care for animals who have been rescued from cruelty situations.

In many cases, offenders who perpetrate acts of animal cruelty are arrested and prosecuted. However, the question of who is responsible for the care of animal victims can be more complicated.
