PHILADELPHIA, PA – Two inmates have reportedly escaped from the Philadelphia Industrial Correctional Center.

On Monday, May 8th, the Department of Prisons announced the escape of Ameen Hurst and Nasir Grant.

Concerns now shift to the families of homicide victims of the escaped prisoners.

District Attorney Larry Krasner said his office is in contact with the families of the victims impacted by the homicides allegedly committed by Ameen Hurst, and with witnesses who may be called to provide testimony at trial.

The safety of victims and witnesses who may be at risk of intimidation or retaliation is of the highest importance to prosecutors and the DA’s Victim Support Services Division.

The DA’s office is also in constant communication with Philadelphia Police and other law enforcement partners working to locate the fugitives, return them to state custody, and investigate the incidents leading up to and immediately following the breach.

Members of the public who have any information regarding the location or activities of Ameen Hurst and Nasir Grant are implored to contact the U.S. Marshals Service at 1-800-336-0102 or Philadelphia Police at 215-686-TIPS (8477). The DA’s office urges anyone with information to come forward to ensure the safety of the community and bring these fugitives to justice.
