Two shot and killed in Fort Lauderdale

FT. LAUDERDALE, FL – Two people were killed in a shooting incident that took place in the early hours of Tuesday, May 9th, in Fort Lauderdale. The Fort Lauderdale Police Department is currently investigating the double homicide that took place at around 2:26 a.m. at 1975 West Sunrise Boulevard. Officers were alerted to the scene after receiving multiple reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered an adult male and an adult female, who were both victims of the incident. The police officers provided medical care until Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue arrived and took both victims to Broward Health Medical Center. However, both victims were later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The male victim has been identified as Vernaldo Donner, who was a resident of the City of Deerfield Beach, and the female victim has been identified as Terri McKenzie, who was also a resident of the same city. According to preliminary investigations, the victims were driving in a 2017 Mercedes Benz GLC 300 when the shooting started on West Sunrise Boulevard, as they were entering the northbound ramp of the Interstate 95. The shooting continued along the ramp until the vehicle stopped, and the Fort Lauderdale Police Department is still working on the case with the Florida Highway Patrol as the lead investigating agency.

The police department has requested anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information about the identity of the suspect(s) to contact Detective Thomas Taylor at 954-828-6673. The investigation is ongoing, and more information will be released as it becomes available.
