NEW YORK, NY – The driver of a hit-and-run crash in Brooklyn is being sought by police for fleeing the scene after striking an 8-year-old girl crossing the street in Brownsville.

The eight-year-old girl was hit by a vehicle while walking with her siblings at the corner of Sutter Avenue and Christopher Avenue on Monday, according to the NYPD.

The girl was walking with her 13-year-old brother and 16-year-old sister when a gray Nissan Altima, traveling eastbound on Sutter Avenue at a high rate of speed, struck her. The vehicle did not remain at the scene and fled on Sutter Avenue, making a left turn onto Powell Street.

The incident left the young girl with serious physical injuries, including a fractured leg and a broken pelvis. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) quickly transported her to Maimonides Hospital, where she was admitted in stable condition.

The New York Police Department has released surveillance images of the vehicle that struck the girl near the incident location.
