Juvenile Detained After Gun Discovery at Gretna Middle School

GRETNA, VA – A juvenile was taken into custody on Wednesday, after a gun was discovered in a school trash can. The Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call from Gretna Middle School at around 12:45 p.m.

The School Resource Officer located the gun in a garbage can within the school. The subsequent investigation resulted in charges against a student. Charges include possession of a firearm on school property, possession or transportation of certain firearms by persons under 18, and pointing, holding, or brandishing a firearm.
